BASICS

Offensive-Their are eleven players on the football, five of which occupy the Offinsive line. The center, left guard, left tackle, right guard right tackle, and six if there is a tightend, one of which who may serve as a wide receiver (one who cathes passes from the quarterback.) Their is a fullback, his main purpose is to block for the running back, but he runs the ball partially in short yardage situations. The running back is the primary ball carrier for the team. He runs the ball 95% of the time. There are also four wide receivers which serve as throwing targets for the quarterback on the team.

Defense- Their are also eleven players on the defensive side of the ball. Once again we start with the the defensive line which battles the offensive line for contol of self and position of gap resposibility. Behind the definsive line you have the line backers which serves mainley as run protection, their are three of them middle, and left, and right, outside linbackers. The primary pass stoppers are the cornerbacks who defend the wide recievers and try and prevent the other team from cathing the ball. The two safties which are called the strong saftiy who is primarily the cover protection for the running strategy of the opposing team. The free saftey has a responsibility that is very important He serves as the last line of defense that prevent the opposing team from scoring.
